Is the use of the drug Metmin can contribute to stunted growth of the child and will discontinuing the drug make the child grow properly?

My son is 4 years old and has been taking Momester/Metmin once a day for over two years, plus Hitaxa. I observed that my son had not grown a centimetre for about 10 months. Is it enough to stop taking Metmin for my son to start growing again?

Available studies do not indicate that mometasone furonate (contained in Metmin) has a significant effect on the growth of children taking it.

However, some corticosteroid drugs can affect the growth rate of children using them. This applies in particular to drugs administered orally and inhaled - this method of administration increases the risk of systemic side effects. The risk of this type of side effect increases when used for a long time and/or in high doses.

Topical preparations, e.g. nasal sprays, are much less likely to cause systemic side effects, including stunted growth in children.

However, it is best to consult the observed stunted growth of the child with a doctor, who will decide on further therapy.
