Occasional consumption of moderate amounts of alcohol is not contraindicated. There is no evidence that there is a direct interaction between pantoprazole (the active ingredient in Panzol) and alcohol. However, it should be borne in mind that alcohol consumption may nullify the effect of the drug, which is based on a decrease in the secretion of hydrochloric acid in the stomach. Alcohol stimulates the secretion of hydrochloric acid, thus intensifying the symptoms of reflux and slowing down the healing process of the gastric mucosa.
