Is it possible to administer alpha lipoic acid intramuscularly? I'll admit that taking it intravenously puts me off a bit. I'm going to see a diabetologist and I'd like to talk to him about it. I have had type 1 diabetes for 21 years.

There is no information on the efficacy and safety of intramuscular administration of alpha lipoic acid in the currently available materials.
Available scientific publications describe the efficacy of oral and intravenous administration of alpha lipoic acid. The studies that I have been able to find on intramuscular administration are few and have been conducted on small groups of animals, so they cannot be considered as a basis for confirming the efficacy and safety of intramuscular administration.
The currently commercially available product containing alpha lipoic acid in the form of a solution for infusion requires dilution and slow min. 30-minute pass.
