What can I use for itching after Brintellix?

Hello after 15 years of sereupin,I started taking Brintellix 10 mg
But I had a lot of itching and redness on my legs, I probably switched to one medication without gradually stopping the other medication Now the GP has told me to take half of it and the itching has decreased but it's still there What do you recommend? Thank you

Thank you for sharing your case. Side effects such as itching and redness on the legs may be related to a sudden change of medication. If you have experienced a skin reaction after switching medications, it is important for your doctor to assess the severity and nature of these symptoms and decide whether to continue treatment with Brintellix at a reduced dose, switch to another antidepressant, or take other measures.

As an outsider, I am not in a position to give you individual medical advice on the basis of a brief description alone. As a pharmacist, I can only give you general information regarding the treatment of itching:

- The use of emollients and moisturizers help to soothe dry and irritated skin, e.g.
Bioderma Atoderm Creme Ultra: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/117829/bioderma-atoderm-creme-ultra-krem-wzmacniajacy-do-skory-suchej-krem/apteki

- Avoid regular soaps and shower gels, which can further dry out and irritate the skin. It is worth replacing them with dermocosmetics, e.g. Bioderma Atoderm Huile de douche: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/90556/bioderma-atoderm-huile-de-douche-olejek-do-kapieli-plyn/apteki

- Avoid scratching itchy areas. Although it may be difficult, try to avoid scratching as it can lead to irritation and worsening of itching. Instead, gently pat the cream or apply a cool compress.

I encourage you to report the symptoms you are experiencing to your doctor, as well as to report the occurrence of an adverse reaction of the preparation. Reporting side effects allows you to increase control over the medicines available on the market. We wrote more about how and why to report side effects in the article: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/artykuly/jak-i-dlaczego-zglaszac-dzialania-niepozadane
