Both medicines contain the active substance macrogol. They differ in the type of macrogol.
Each sachet of Forlax contains 10 g of macrogol 4000.
Movicol sachets contain macrogol 3350.
In addition, Movikol contains salts - sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate and potassium chloride. Thanks to their presence in the preparation, there is no loss of electrolytes.
Macrogols are well-tolerated and safe to use preparations that are used in the case of constipation, both long-term and sporadic. Macrogols are polymers with a molecular weight of about 3500–4000 daltons. They increase the volume of fluids in the intestinal lumen and have a laxative effect. When taken orally, they are not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract.
It is best to take them in the morning by dissolving the product in a glass of water. The effect of the product usually occurs within 24-48 hours after administration.
Both Forlax and Movicol are medicinal products in powder form for oral solution preparation used for symptomatic treatment as a laxative.
