The semaglutide in Rybelsus belongs to a class of medicines called GLP-1 analogues (glucagon-like peptide-1) and works by increasing insulin secretion, inhibiting the release of glucagon and delaying gastric emptying, which contributes to better control of blood glucose levels. There is no direct evidence that semaglutide, which is a drug used to treat type 2 diabetes, has a direct effect on thyroid function.
