Extending the dosing interval by one month does not affect the effectiveness of the vaccine. Simply, then the protection will appear later. In order to achieve immunity before the tick season, which begins in spring,
It is most beneficial to administer the first and second doses during the winter months. It is best to complete the vaccination schedule with a third dose in the same season or at the latest before the start of the next tick season
For both adults and children, it is best to take the second dose 1 to 3 months after the first. If a rapid immune response is needed, a second dose may be given two weeks after the first dose. During the ongoing tick season, the expected protection is sufficient after the first two doses. The third dose should be given 5 to 12 months after the second dose of the vaccine. Protection after the third dose is expected to last at least 3 years.
