How to use Evra patches?

Evra patches
Until now, I had been taking the contraceptive pill "Regavidon", but now the doctor has prescribed me patches. However, even though the doctor told me how to use them, I didn't focus on it at all and I don't know how he said it anymore. Can you please explain the use to me step by step? Is it on the same principle as with pills? Namely, that after the 21st tablet there is a 7-day break and it is only on the eighth day that I start the next pack. The same is true for patches? When should I apply my first patch?

Patches are similar to tablets, with the difference that there are only 3 of them.

EVRA should be started on the first day of withdrawal bleeding. If you have not experienced withdrawal bleeding within five days of taking your last active (hormone-containing) oral contraceptive tablet, you must rule out pregnancy before starting EVRA.
If the patch is started after the first day of withdrawal bleeding, a non-hormonal method of contraception should be used concomitantly during the first 7 days.

Only one EVRA patch can be applied at a time. Each patch should be removed and replaced immediately with a new patch on the same day of the week (the "Patch Change Day") – on the "8th Day" and on the "15th Day" of the menstrual cycle. Patch changes can be made at any time on this designated "Patch Change Day". The fourth week in which the patch is not applied begins with the "22nd Day of the cycle". A new course of contraceptive use starts on the first day after the end of the week in which the patch is not applied. The next EVRA patch should be applied even if the if the bleeding has not occurred or if the bleeding has not yet stopped. Under no circumstances should the interval between cycles of use of the patch be more than 7 days. In case it is longer than 7 days the contraceptive effect may not be effective. Then it is necessary to use a non-hormonal method of contraception for 7 days at the same time. As with the use of combined oral contraceptives, the risk of ovulation increases with each day after beyond the recommended break in EVRA.

EVRA should be applied to clean, dry, hairless and intact healthy skin around the buttocks, abdomen, outer upper arm or upper torso where tight clothing will not rub against the patch. EVRA should not be placed on the breasts or any other area where the skin is red, irritated or damaged. Each patch should be applied in a different place on the skin to avoid possible irritation, although it can be placed in the same anatomical area. The patch should be pressed firmly against the skin with the palm of your hand so that it adheres well along the edges. Do not apply make-up, creams, oils, powders or any other cosmetic or topical medication to the areas of the skin where the contraceptive patch is being applied or will be applied in the near future to prevent them from affecting the adhesive properties of the patch. It is recommended to check daily that the patch adheres properly.

You can find all of the above information in the package leaflet for Evra.
