A wet cough means that it is a productive, detachable cough that contains expectorant secretions. Cough that does not break off, i.e. dry, unproductive.
I assume that your child's cough does not break off, i.e. it is dry and is not accompanied by the removal of secretions. You can use dry cough syrup to complement the therapy.
