Both medicines contain the same active substance. They differ in excipients, e.g. Xalatan contains benzalkonium chloride, which can cause eye irritation, dry eye symptoms, or can affect the tear film and corneal surface. Benzalkonium chloride should be used with caution in patients with dry eye disease or corneal damage. Patients on long-term treatment should be monitored.
The effect of treatment with both medicines will be similar.
