Will Biseptol work against Enterococcus faecalis and E. coli infections?
24.99 zł

Good morning. My urine culture tested positive for E. Coli and Enterococcus faecalis. The antibiogram showed my sensitivity to both pathogens <=1 dla Biseptolu 960. Czytam jednak, że on słabo działa bardzo na tego paciorkowca. Czy w takim razie leczenie tym antybiotykiem paciorkowca się uda?
Dziękuję z góry za odpowiedź.

It is true that Biseptol 960 has little effect on Enterococcus spp. bacteria.
However, it is still used in infections with this bacterium. If you do not notice any improvement in your health after the treatment, you should consult your doctor. The specialist may decide, for example, to include an antibiotic with amoxicillin:

According to the manufacturer of amoxicillin drugs: For E. faecalis, resistance to amoxicillin is uncommon.

Since these are prescription drugs, their use must be decided by a doctor.

If you do not have the opportunity to consult your doctor, you can use the teleconsultation here:

To @Olka:

In this case, it is worth waiting until the end of the Biseptol treatment.

For nitrofurantoin, I have a sensitivity of 64 (MIC/BP) for both of these pathogens.
Should I start furagin today (I took Biseptol in the morning, the 2nd pill only)? Should I wait any longer? Thank you in advance for your reply.

To @Olka:

Yes, the resolution of symptoms will indicate that the infection has been cured.

In such cases, it is possible, for example, to add a drug with furagin to Biseptol.

Here you can compare the prices of sample medicines and order them for home delivery or pick-up at the pharmacy:

It is also worth implementing a probiotic, e.g.

This is just one last question:
Will curing the infection mean that the symptoms will disappear? My bladder is terribly bothering me.

To @Olka:

Yes, there is a chance that Biseptol will successfully cure the infection.
However, in the case of E. faecalis, treatment may be lengthy and may require another antibiotic after Biseptol treatment has ended.

Thank you very much for your reply.
But is there a chance? Even if it's small?
