How do I know if my Ozempic medication is genuine? Which batches of Ozempic have been recalled and what do I risk if I have taken a falsified medicine?

The GIF has published a warning about the circulation of counterfeit Ozempic pens in some EU countries. So far, there have been no signs that this has taken place in Poland. On the Ozempic product page, we have added a photo with a comparison of the appearance of the original medicine and the counterfeit:

The recalled series are:

Ozempic 0.25 mg solution for injection in a pen, 1 x 1.5 ml pen + 4 needles batch number: MP5E022, in terms of pack bearing serial number (SN): SN:1910448318746, SN:1715275882761, SN:1484230994781;

Ozempic 0.5 mg solution for injection in a pen, 1 pen 1.5 ml + 4 needles batch number: MP5E422, in terms of pack labelling with serial number (SN): SN:1388907388367, SN:1166038143360;

Ozempic 0.5 mg solution for injection in a pen, 3 x 1.5 ml pens + 12 needles batch number: MP5E309, within packs with serial number (SN): SN:1616963799752;

Ozempic 1mg solution for injection in a pen; 3 x 3 ml pens + 12 needles batch number: NP5F390, within packs bearing serial number (SN): SN:1663553143407

Ozempic 1mg solution for injection in a pen; 3 x 3 ml pens + 12 needles batch number: MP5E511, expiry date: 07/2025 for packs bearing the serial number (SN): 1946483405690

At the moment, there are no identified cases in Poland in which falsified Ozempic has been used by patients. These are only suspicions that the counterfeit may have found its way into the pharmacy market. Therefore, there is no information on the impact of the falsified preparation on the health and life of patients.
