Good morning, I have been prescribed Medikinet CR 20, I have been taking it for 2 days but I already see side effects that I do not want - insomnia, palpitations, etc. Can I divide the dose in half at the moment (it is in capsules, in the leaflet there is information that the capsule can be opened and mixed eg with yogurt)? Of course, he will consult his doctor so that he can prescribe me a lower dose. But the question is whether it is possible to divide the dosage in half at the moment? Best regards.

Therapy with methylphenidate contained in Medikinet CR 20 should be carried out under constant medical supervision, therefore the decision to reduce the dose should be made in consultation with the treating physician.
Indeed, in the leaflet you can find information that the capsule can be opened and its contents poured into a small amount (a tablespoon) of grated apple or yogurt. However, there are two problems: firstly, it is not possible to precisely divide the contents of the capsule into two equal parts, and secondly, after opening the capsule, its contents should be taken immediately (if you try to divide the contents of the capsule, the remaining part of the dose should be disposed of).
The safest option in this situation will be to contact a doctor and consider the legitimacy of issuing a new prescription.
