Good morning, Is it possible to drink doxycycline with iron water? Unfortunately, I have such water in the tap (slightly yellow tint), and I read that iron can negatively affect the effectiveness of the antibiotic ... Is it better to buy mineral water in this situation? I would like to add that doxycycline was prescribed to me for Lyme disease, hence I particularly want the therapy to be effective. Thank you in advance for your reply. Best regards.

Medicines are best washed down with boiled water or water that does not contain a large amount of minerals. Doxycycline forms complexes m.in with iron ions, which cause less absorption of the drug. Therefore, drinking doxycycline with water with a high content of this element may adversely affect the treatment.
