Can Maxitrol be given to a child?

Good morning. The son 1year2months has conjunctivitis. The doctor prescribed Maxitrol and however, the leaflet clearly says that it should not be used in children. Can we give it to our son without fear or consult another doctor?

The use of Maxitrol drops or ointments in children is not recommended due to the fact that the safety and effectiveness of this preparation in this age group have not been documented. The doctor may recommend the use of the drug based on his knowledge, clinical practice and the patient's condition also in cases not foreseen in the leaflet, including e.g. in the child.
