Xeljanz is indicated for use with methotrexate for the treatment of active rheumatoid arthritis or psoriatic arthritis. It is an immunosuppressive drug, hence the use in diseases whose symptoms result from an abnormal reaction of the body's immune system. Osteoarthritis results from joint damage as a result of factors such as obesity, sedentary lifestyle, age, certain types of exercise. It has no autoimmune basis.
