Can I stop taking Dostinex overnight if I am pregnant?

Hello, Can dostinex be discontinued overnight? The doctor said that if I get pregnant I have to stop taking the drug, I wonder if there will be withdrawal effects? I still have a question about cortisol testing in pregnancy. Before visiting the endocrinologist, I had to do a cortisol test (eat a pill the day before), will it affect early pregnancy (about 6 weeks)? Thank you for your reply.

Dostinex as a prescription drug is used according to his recommendations. "If conception occurs during therapy, treatment should be discontinued immediately after confirmation of pregnancy to limit foetal exposure to the product." If your doctor has advised you to stop taking the medicine after pregnancy, stop taking the medicine overnight. Because the possible risks associated with pregnancy and its maintenance (significant malformations or miscarriage) are much higher than possible side effects after discontinuation of the drug. Dostinex is used, among others, in the treatment of disorders associated with excessive secretion of prolactin. After discontinuation of the drug, a recurrence of problems with this hormone is observed. You also have pregnancy (especially the third trimester) will increase the level of prolactin, so the cause will be complex (hyperprolactinemia and pregnancy). There is no information that a gradual reduction of the dose is necessary. Of course, in some patients, a sustained reduction in prolactin levels was observed for many consecutive months. If you are concerned about your health, please consult your doctor who will thoroughly explain the situation.
