Will single-ingredient tablets containing only drospirenone work to inhibit the development of endometriosis?
Good morning, I would like to ask if single-ingredient tablets containing only drospirenone will work for inhibiting the development of endometriosis? Currently, it takes two-component, but due to age I would like to change to one-component, but I care very much about inhibiting the development of endometriosis.

Contraceptive pills - both one- and two-component - in the indications have only the prevention of pregnancy, but with endometriosis their mechanism of action consisting in the ovaries and endometrial atrophy is used. For the treatment of endometriosis, registered indications have drugs containing a progestogen called dienogest. However, drugs with this hormonal component do not guarantee contraceptive protection and condoms or other non-hormonal contraceptives should be used when using them to prevent pregnancy.
