Good morning. The doctor prescribed me the antibiotic Sumamed. In the pharmacy, the pharmacist advised me to buy a cover. The choice fell on Synbiotex. In addition, she told me to take the cover 2 times a day and up to 3 weeks after the end of antibiotic therapy. My question is this: is it really a good idea to take the cover 2 times a day if the manufacturer wrote on the packaging to take 1 tablet a day? Thank you

Synbiotex contains probiotic bacteria, and the manufacturer recommends its use once a day. If no other antibiotic has been used in the last few months and if the patient does not suffer from other gastrointestinal diseases (e.g. irritable bowel), then there is no need to increase the dose of the probiotic to 2 capsules per day. It is more important that the probiotic is used for about 2-3 weeks after the end of antibiotic therapy, as this has been shown to affect the faster return of the intestinal bacterial flora to its physiological state. For my part, I pay attention that Synbiotex is not used together with an antibiotic. A minimum of 2 hours break between them should be maintained, but it does not matter whether the probiotic is used before or after the antibiotic. Please do not drink Synbiotex with either hot or frozen liquids, as this may negatively affect the probiotic bacteria it contains. I would also like to emphasize that when using the antibiotic Sumamed, which contains azithromycin in its composition, remember to use sunscreen flirts during the summer.
