No, you do not need to use insulin while taking Trulicity unless your doctor tells you to. In some patients it is not needed, and in some it is necessary. Still in others, it is possible to reduce the dosage or after some time discontinue insulin (type 2 diabetes). However, Trulicity is not a substitute for insulin. If you have already used insulin, such as Novorapid, before you introduced Trulicity and your doctor did not advise you to stop taking it, you should continue to use insulin. However, it should be borne in mind that insulin may work more strongly in combination with Trulicity and it is very likely that you will need to change its dosage. If you do not know how to dose intraprandial or basal insulin in the current situation, if it is also used, please consult a doctor. I remind you that in the case of hypoglycemic symptoms (sugar below 70 mg / dL) - trembling hands, dizziness, cold sweats, blurred vision, confusion, sudden hunger) we follow the 15/15 rule, i.e. we consume 15 g of simple sugar - glucose in gel, dextro tablets, 3/4 of a small juice in a carton and after 15 minutes. we measure sugar. If it is still too low - we repeat the scheme.
