Why can Mucovagin gel not be used during menstruation?

I use mucovagin gel. The leaflet shows that it can not be used during menstruation. What is the reason for this? And does this only apply the gel inside or also outside? In addition, I currently use birth control pills, which is why I do not have a typical period, but spotting. Can I still not use the gel during these spots?

It is not recommended to use vaginal gynecological preparations during menstruation due to the fact that their components can flow outwards along with menstrual blood, which makes the treatment ineffective. This situation mainly concerns vaginal application. When using, for example, tampons or menstrual cups, you can use gynecological products externally. You can use Mucovagin gel both vaginally and externally during spotting resulting from taking hormonal contraception, but it should be borne in mind that this preparation may work less effectively.
