How many mini balls does each Capsule of Dutilox contain?
A psychiatrist prescribed dutilox to my mother yesterday. He said that it can be removed from the capsule and divided into 1/4 or 1/2, i.e. take out these balls and divide them accordingly... but mom thinks that he said that there are 4 balls and mom opened the drug and there are 144 mini balls ... And my question is whether there are really so many of these mini balls in this drug or whether there was some confusion with the drug. Please reply. Thank you in advance

The drug in question is probably Duloxetine Sandoz or another preparation containing duloxetine, which is in the form of enteric-coated capsules with mini balls.
According to the Summary of Product Characteristics of Duloxetine Sandoz, 30 mg contains 4 white, round, biconvex tablets and Duloxetine Sandoz 60 mg contains 4 white round, biconvex tablets and Duloxetine Sandoz 60 mg contains 4
8 white tablets.

I see that the question was asked 2 years ago. However, recently a doctor told me that there is one drug with duloxetine, which instead of small granules has 4 globules and you can take one out to have less than a dose. Unfortunately, she forgot its name, and the pharmacy did not know.
I have been taking a dose of 60 mg for a very long time and the jump to 30 mg could be too severe, so I was supposed to take 45 mg this way, but I did not find the drug. Soon I have an appointment again and maybe I can come up with something.
And if you know which drug equivalent it is, please let me know.

Charakterystyka Produktu Leczniczego Dutilox nie zawiera informacji, ile kuleczek znajduje się w środku, gdyż najprawdopodobniej ich ilość oraz wielkość jest zmienna. Nie posiadamy leku, aby móc to fizycznie porównać na przykładzie dwóch kapsułek.
Jak informuje producent leku Dutilox: "Kapsułkę należy połykać w całości popijając wodą."
Kapsułka Dutilox jest niepodzielną formą leku, ponieważ pacjent nie ma narzędzi, aby ewentualnie wysypaną zawartość we własnym zakresie podzielić na dwie równe dawki. Kapsułki należy połykać w całości.
W mojej ocenie kuleczki mogą być nieidentyczne oraz różne w kształcie i wielkości - nie widziałam ich jednak, gdyż nie otwierałam kapsułki. Co za tym idzie - ich podział "na liczbę" może nie prowadzić do otrzymania równych porcji leku.
Taki podział mógłby zostać dokonany ewentualnie wagowo, natomiast nie sądzę, aby pacjenci dysponowali wagami analitycznymi o odpowiedniej dokładności.
W tej sytuacji można zwrócić się do producenta leku Dutilox z zapytaniem, czy procedura podziału kapsułki poprzez "liczenie granulek" jest dopuszczona w dokumentach rejestracyjnych i może być rekomendowana chorym.
