Tak, ma to znaczenie. Umieszczenie leku pod językiem ma na celu umożliwienie mu możliwie najszybszego wchłonięcia się do krwiobiegu, gdyż okolica ta jest bogata w liczne naczynia krwionośne, które szybko przenoszą substancję czynną w miejsce jej działania.
Jeśli dziecko popija lek, spłukuje go przyjmowanym płynem spod języka, dzięki czemu zamiast wchłonąć się w jamie ustnej, preparat dostaje się do żołądka, gdzie może ulec dezaktywacji ze względu na obecność kwasu solnego i nie wywrzeć zamierzonego działania leczniczego.
