Ponieważ nie uzgodniono stanowiska w sprawie potencjalnej roli żylaków w etiologii żylnej choroby zakrzepowo-zatorowej - same żylaki kończyn dolnych nie stanowią przeciwwskazania do stosowania globulek Intrarosa.
Przeciwwskazaniem do stosowania tego leku jest, m.in. stwierdzona obecnie lub w przeszłości żylna choroba zakrzepowo-zatorowa (zakrzepica żył głębokich, zator płucny), potwierdzona skłonność do zakrzepów żylnych (np. niedobór białka C, białka S lub antytrombiny, aktywna lub przebyta niedawno tętnicza choroba zakrzepowo-zatorowa (np. dławica piersiowa, zawał mięśnia sercowego).
