Yes, headache is classified as a common side effect (may affect up to 1 in 10 people) in the Rinvoq medical file. Importantly, in the case of giant cell arteritis treatment, this symptom was reported very often, i.e. in more than 1 in 10 people.
Headaches usually appear at the beginning of therapy and are mild to moderate in many patients. They are often accompanied by other symptoms, such as fatigue or nausea. You should consult a doctor if the headache is very severe, accompanied by neck stiffness, fever, confusion or visual disturbances – these may be symptoms of more serious complications, e.g. infectious.
Remember to avoid grapefruit and grapefruit juice while taking Rinvoq, as they may increase the level of the medicine in the body and increase side effects, including headaches.
If your headache is bothersome or does not go away after the first weeks of treatment, please inform your treating doctor, who may consider adjusting your dose or recommending appropriate supportive treatment.
I encourage you to inform your doctor about any symptoms you experience and about any side effects of the drug. Reporting such cases allows for better control over the safety of the preparations used. For more information on how and why you should report side effects, please refer to our article:
