Azelaic acid is considered safe for pregnant and lactating women, although there are warnings in the drug leaflet (due to the lack of studies of the product in this particular group). The skin of pregnant women is more prone to discoloration, so remember to apply products with a high filter, especially during treatment with preparations containing azelaic acid (it has an additional brightening effect).

It is worth seeking advice from a cosmetologist. Some skin cleansing treatments are safe for pregnant women and help keep acne-prone skin in good condition.

I attach an excerpt from the Acne-Derm leaflet:

"The product may be used by pregnant or breastfeeding women only if the benefit to the mother outweighs the potential risk to the foetus.
Azelaic acid passes through the placental barrier and into the milk of breastfeeding women to a small extent. The safety of azelaic acid in pregnant or breastfeeding women has not been established. Animal studies do not indicate that the use of azelaic acid by pregnant women is associated with any risk to the fetus."

In case of any doubts, I encourage you to use the teleconsultation with a gynaecologist - the service is available on our website in the e-visit tab:

User questions and answers that provide feedback about products are not verified for the purchase or use of the product. Companies often order anonymous comments to form positive opinions about their products, or negative ones about competitors. Therefore, be guided by the information in the pharmacists' responses in the first place.
