Elocom contains a strong corticosteroid and should be used very carefully in young children, usually for short periods of time and on limited areas of skin. Using it 5 times a week for 3 months in a 3-year-old carries the risk of side effects, such as thinning of the skin or systemic absorption of the steroid.

In the treatment of seborrheic dermatitis in children, antifungal preparations and emollients are more often recommended, and steroids only for a short time in exacerbations. Such a long use of Elokom should be carried out only under the strict supervision of a dermatologist – if there is no such control, it is worth consulting the treatment regimen with a doctor again.
