Actifed syrup should not be used when you are 8 months pregnant.
The syrup contains, m.in, pseudoephedrine – a substance that, when taken in the third trimester of pregnancy, can lead to a decrease in blood flow to the placenta, which poses a risk to the fetus.
The drug is not intended for use in pregnant women.
A safer alternative will be syrups based on butamirate or marshmallow. Saline inhalations can also be helpful. Dosage of medication as for an adult.
