Long-term magnesium intake may be indicated in certain situations (e.g. in the case of the use of drugs that interfere with the absorption of this element, as a supplement to cardiac treatment, etc.). Usually, such a treatment is recommended to the patient by a doctor.
In the case of supplementing magnesium deficiencies, a dose of about 400 mg per day (i.e. 4 tablets) is used for a period of 4 - 8 weeks. The Summary of Product Characteristics does not recommend prolonged treatment at therapeutic doses. Taking 1 tablet a day has a more preventive dimension - the manufacturer does not specify the maximum length of treatment in this case.
