A pharmacy test for antibodies that appear in the blood as a result of an immune response to Helicobacter pylori infection is reliable as long as it was performed correctly (according to the instructions) and the result was read in a timely manner (no more than 10 minutes after the solution was added).
The test result may not be reliable if the instructions for use are not followed, if too little blood is added to the test window, or if the test plate becomes wet.
A positive test result means the presence of IgG anti-Helicobacter pylori antibodies in the body. This indicates a current or past infection with the bacterium.
In order to check whether we are dealing with a current infection, a test for Helicobacter pylori antigen from the stool can be performed, e.g.:
