Good morning. I have a question about aphtin. Accidentally, a person with swallowing disorders may have choked on this drug. Can aspiration pneumonia occur despite its disinfecting effect?

Although Aphtin has a disinfectant effect, getting it into the respiratory tract can irritate and potentially lead to aspiration pneumonia. Aspiration pneumonia is when content from the mouth (e.g. food, saliva, medications, stomach acid) enters the airways and lungs, causing inflammation (which can occur as a result of irritation and not necessarily bacterial superinfection).
If you experience shortness of breath, cough or fever, you should urgently seek medical attention.
