Yes, this is normal and common after inserting the IUD. It results from the start of hormones.

A hormonal IUD (e.g. Mirena, Kyleena) contains the hormone levonorgestrel, which acts mainly locally on the lining of the uterus. This hormone inhibits its build-up, so there is nothing to exfoliate, so menstrual bleeding may decrease or disappear completely. For many women, after a few months, the cycles become very scanty or disappear completely.
