Good morning. I was undergoing antibiotic treatment (Ospamox and Metronidazole) - eradication of helicobacter pylori. A week after the end of antibiotic therapy, diarrhea appeared – frequent passing of stool in small amounts in the form of mucus. Diarrhea is accompanied by abdominal pain, overflowing, lack of appetite and it lasts for the third day. I thought about using Nifuroxazid or Smecta. Please advise.

Diarrhea after antibiotic therapy is a common phenomenon caused by a disturbance of the natural intestinal bacterial flora.
In your case, if your symptoms are moderate, you can consider using probiotics to help restore the balance of your gut microflora. A probiotic that will be the right choice is, for example:

Nifuroxazid can be used if diarrhoea is infectious, while Smecta has a protective effect and can alleviate symptoms.
If symptoms persist for more than 2-3 days or worsen, you should consult your doctor to rule out pseudomembranous colitis.
