Do side effects occur after the drug Formetic are rarer than those after Metformax?

When dosing Matformax, I was tormented by acute and frequent diarrhea and liver problems. The doctor has now prescribed me Formetic. Are side effects with Formetic less frequent? I take the drug because of insulin resistance with PCOS.

Both Metformax and Formetic contain metformin in their composition, therefore the frequency of the described side effects of the above-mentioned drugs is the same (and the probability of their occurrence will increase with the increase in the dose used).

Gastrointestinal disorders, including diarrhoea, are a very common side effect during metformin therapy and occur in ≥1/10 of patients using the drug.
In isolated cases, abnormal liver function tests or hepatitis have been observed, resolving upon discontinuation of metformin therapy.

Gastrointestinal adverse reactions usually occur at the beginning of treatment and in most cases resolve spontaneously. To prevent them, it is recommended to administer the drug during or immediately after meals.
