Good morning! I take methotrexate, two days later I am supposed to take folic acid. I would like to ask if this is due to the fact that if I took this folic acid the next day or the same day, the drug would be worse absorbed? Can I safely take it while taking the medicine?

Folic acid should be used (in this case) strictly according to the doctor's recommendations, keeping an appropriate distance from Methotrexate. The need for folic acid is due to the mechanism of action of Methotrexate. To put it simply, folic acid deficiencies occur during the treatment, which has a significant impact on the severity of side effects such as mouth ulcers, hair loss, severe gastrointestinal disorders. Taking folic acid reduces the risk of bothersome side effects, but the dose must be selected in such a way that it does not reduce the effectiveness of the therapy. For the same reason, folic acid must be administered at a later date.
