Staphylococcus in the nose
A nasal swab showed staphylococcus. Is it possible that this bacterium has caused sinuses to hurt so much for many years, in addition to the jaw, ear, lymph nodes...? I'm taking 7 days ointment - Mupina. So far, no results. Is there another remedy how to alleviate staph?
I would like to add that the blood results are good, CRP is normal.

Yes, staphylococcal infection can manifest itself as chronic purulent rhinitis and sinusitis, which consequently causes chronic pain in the sinuses, jaw, ear or lymph nodes.
The frequent coexistence of a number of resistance mechanisms to commonly used antibiotics makes it difficult to eradicate MRSA. In Poland, 2% mupirocin in the form of nasal ointment is used for this purpose. Unfortunately, the resistance of Staphylococcus aureus to mupirocin is increasing.
If the treatment is not effective enough, you should consult your doctor. The therapy may need to be prolonged.
Studies show that in the case of mupirocin resistance, the use of polyhexanidine proves to be effective. Intranasal remedies with this substance are available without a prescription.
