Oekolp forte is a preparation available on prescription, the length of treatment in this case is determined by the doctor.
According to the Summary of Product Characteristics, the duration of treatment with Oekolp forte depends on the underlying condition and is as follows:
"For atrophic lesions of the lower genitourinary tract: 1 globule daily for the first weeks (maximum 4 weeks), thereafter the dose is reduced according to symptom resolution until a maintenance dose is reached (e.g. 1 globule twice a week.
Pre- and postoperative treatment in postmenopausal women undergoing vaginal surgery: 1 globule daily for 2 weeks prior to surgery; 1 globule twice a week for 2 weeks after the procedure.
Diagnostic aid in case of questionable Pap smear from the cervix: 1 globule, every other day in the week preceding the next smear collection."
When using Oekolp forte globules for the treatment of postmenopausal symptoms, the lowest effective dose should be used for the shortest possible time.
