Hello Dear Doctor, I took Yomesan 4cpr for infection caused by taenia, after 6 hours of intake I took 30gr of magnesium sulphate but no trace of taenia in the stool! Is it possible that the medication didn't work? Thanks in advance..

The drug leaflet says that treatment cycles every 2 weeks.
Yomesan is dosed 4 tablets per day for adults and children from 30kg in weight.
The tablets are chewable, they should not be swallowed whole. Otherwise, they may not dissolve completely and will be excreted, such as when you take a laxative like magnesium sulfate.
Another tapeworm drug, praziqualel, has a different mechanism of action than yomesan. So if there is no effect, then praziquantel can be dosed alternately with yomesan or at the same time, in a correspondingly lower dose.
Praziquantel paralyzes the nervous and muscular systems of the tapeworm, while yomesan blocks metabolism. A single dose of yomesan can weaken the tapeworm, but it will not remove it.
With large and resistant tapeworms, such as carpenter, treatment may take a longer time. It is important to remove the head of the parasite, not just the members.

The tapeworm limbs may begin to go away after a long time. If you have any doubts, contact the doctor who prescribed the treatment.
