Although, according to the manufacturer's recommendations, Protopic is intended for patients over 2 years of age, with the consent of the caregiver/parent, this drug is often included in the treatment of atopic dermatitis even in infants, due to the beneficial therapeutic effect and lack of side effects characteristic of steroid preparations.

Although this drug has been registered in Poland since the age of 2, it is successfully used in younger children in other countries. A doctor has the right to use the medicine to the best of his or her knowledge and experience, not on the basis of the manufacturer's instructions. It is also a common practice.
