Cinchona bark tincture is currently used primarily as an ingredient in pharmacy recipes for use on the skin (e.g. in the case of acne and seborrheic lesions). Cinchona bark tincture should not be given to children as an oral preparation due to its high alcohol content and the risk of stomach irritation. When applying externally, the condition of the skin should be monitored and soothing preparations/cosmetics should be used if redness and dryness occur.
