In conservative (pharmacological) treatment, ursodeoxycholic acid is used. It reduces the activity of enzymes, GGTP and ALP, and also relieves itching of the skin. Your doctor may prescribe this medicine with antibiotics, especially if you have symptoms of acute cholangitis, which is a complication of PSC.
