Good morning
Can the use of an antibiotic globule the day before a vaginal smear smear falsify the results? I went to a doctor who, despite the fact that I informed him that I had taken such a globule, took a vaginal swab for venereal diseases.
The results came out negative. Should I repeat the test?

Yes, the use of an antibiotic globule may have affected the outcome of the study. Usually, a swab is taken about 7 days after the end of antibiotic therapy (both local and systemic). If you observe worrying symptoms, the test can be repeated.
In case of any doubts, you can use a teleconsultation with a gynecologist on our website. The service is available in the e-visit tab.
