I have diarrhea since the morning. I took Novynette contraception at 12:00. Another diarrhea was at 3:30 p.m. This is the 3rd week of taking the tablets. Is their effectiveness disturbed?

The effectiveness of hormonal contraception may be impaired by diarrhoea (at least 3 stools of excessively loose consistency) within 3-4 hours of taking the tablet. This is due to the fact that intestinal transit is significantly accelerated and the possibility of absorption of the tablet taken is reduced. In this case, contraceptive protection may be weakened.
In this case, it is recommended to take another tablet from the blister (or tablet from an additional blister). The time of taking the first tablet should be taken as a fixed hour. With prolonged persistence of diarrhea (several days), it is recommended to use an additional method of contraception due to, for example, irritation of the intestinal mucosa.
Before taking the tablet, you can use pharmacological agents that stop diarrhea, for example, Laremid: https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/42441/laremid-tabletki/apteki
