Good morning, during a strong cough (while driving a car) my rib broke, the doctor confirmed it. Is such a thing caused by an unfortunate cough, or could it suggest some more serious things or illnesses? Please reply

A strong cough can contribute to the rupture of the rib through an indirect mechanism, i.e. a strong contraction of the respiratory muscles to which the ribs are attached. Such cases have been reported, for example, in patients suffering from whooping cough. If you would like to receive information about your health condition, e.g. in terms of whether the cough could have been caused by a disease entity, only a doctor can provide it, preferably after a direct examination, or ordering additional tests.
