My GGTP result is 72 IU / I. What preparations can I use to improve the condition of the liver?

The normal level of Gamma-glutamyl transpeptidase (GGPT) for women should be below 35 IU / l. The level of 72 IU/l is within the range of a slight increase, not requiring the introduction of pharmacotherapy. The increased level of the enzyme is influenced by some diseases, e.g. autoimmune, rheumatoid arthritis or pancreatitis, but also by the drugs used or alcohol consumption (toxic liver damage). If cold medicines (e.g. containing paracetamol - in most medicines in the form of sachets to be dissolved in water or ibuprofen) or other medicines recommended by a doctor were used in a short period (about 1-2 weeks) before the test - these could also affect the result of the examination. In the case of minor deviations from the norm, it is recommended to discontinue stimulants, change eating habits (e.g. give up highly processed products, introduce more vegetables, etc.), introduce physical activity and test the enzyme level again after 2-4 weeks. Because GGPT is an enzyme that occurs in many organs and body fluids (it has high m.in activity in the kidneys, intestines, pancreas), it may happen that its increased concentration will not indicate liver problems. To determine the correct diagnosis of the disease, it is necessary to compare the GGPT result with other enzymes imaging the state of the liver, i.e. ALT, AST, alkaline fostatase. In addition, it is advisable to perform a complete blood count, bilirubin level and other basic chemical tests.
