Tetanus is an acute, infectious disease of the nervous system that is caused by a bacterium called tetanus stick. These bacteria are commonly found in nature. Infection can occur as a result of non-compliance with hygiene rules, as well as in the case of contamination of the wound. The most effective way to protect against the disease is vaccination, which further reduces the risk of dangerous complications. Any adult can get vaccinated at a pharmacy.
