Measles is an acute infectious viral disease. The virus enters the body through the nose, throat or conjunctiva, and is transmitted mainly by droplets (sneezing, coughing) and airborne (in the form of an aerosol) and through contact with a surface contaminated with the patient's secretions. The most effective way to protect against the disease is vaccination, which further reduces the risk of dangerous complications. Any adult can get vaccinated at a pharmacy.
