Whether a patient is eligible for reimbursement of the drug is decided by the doctor. The reimbursement indication of Ozempic is the occurrence of type 2 diabetes, in patients before insulin inclusion, treated with at least two oral hypoglycemic drugs for at least 6 months, with HbA1c ≥ 8%, with obesity defined as BMI ≥35 kg / m2 and very high cardiovascular risk understood as: 1) confirmed cardiovascular disease, or 2) damage to other organs manifested by: proteinuria or left ventricular hypertrophy or retinopathy, or 3)the presence of 2 or more of the main risk factors listed below: -age ≥ 55 years for men, ≥60 years for women, -dyslipidemia, -hypertension, -smoking. Looking at the above guidelines, in my opinion, people who do not have type 2 diabetes are not eligible to receive Ozempic for reimbursement. However, as I wrote earlier, the doctor decides whether the patient meets the reimbursement criteria.
