Does a single intake of St. John's wort affect the effectiveness of contraception?

Hello, I have been using Nuvaring for many years. Assuming that on 8.08 I took St. John's wort or other herb affecting the effectiveness of the disc (it was the 10th day of use), did I do the right thing by taking a scheduled break between the discs (12 days later)? Should I skip it? Am I protected by taking a break in this situation during its duration?

It is unlikely that a single intake of a preparation containing St. John's wort extract could significantly affect the effectiveness of Nuvaring discs. A withdrawal for withdrawal bleeding planned according to the scheme was therefore the correct procedure. There are no studies in the literature on the effect of a single intake of St. John's wort on the effectiveness of contraception. The results of one study showed that in women using contraceptive pills and St. John's wort at the same time, side effects that may indicate a decrease in blood hormone levels in the form of intra-operative bleeding in the first month were observed in only 2 out of 12 subjects, while in 3 months this phenomenon was observed in 7 out of 12 women. This suggests that the weakening of the effect of contraceptive pills by St. John's wort occurs as a result of at least a few days of use. The term "other herb affecting the effectiveness of contraception" is insufficient to assess the possible effect on the effectiveness of contraception.
