Can Bactroban/Mupina transferred from nose to mouth harm?

Good morning, we give the child Bactroban/Mupina for a wound in the nose (doctor's recommendation) in which he constantly chisels, and then the fingers often go to the mouth ... In the leaflet it is written not to swallow the ointment. Can small amounts possibly transferred in this way to the mouth harm?

Such small amounts should not cause systemic harm, however, if the child has symptoms that are worrying, you should see a general practitioner. According to the recommendations, the amount of ointment the size of a match head should be entered into each hole in the nose, i.e. about 30 mg - there is about 0.6 mg of mupirocin. Additionally, Bactroban is used for a short time, usually 3-5 days, a maximum of 10 days. If the child has turned one year old, there are preparations on the market that discourage children from biting their nails, e.g. Bitter Finger – maybe smearing the nails in the child will discourage them from picking their nose and putting their fingers in their mouths when they feel a bitter taste. https://www.gdziepolek.pl/produkty/33672/gorzki-paluszek-plyn/apteki?pvid=106154#internetowe
